My work consists of acrylic paintings on canvas.
I work quite intuitively, but my living environment naturally has an influence. I prefer areas where silence and tranquility prevail, such as the Wadden area. Although some works have abstract elements, the landscape is clearly present.
Most paintings are worked through to great length, and if you look closely you can see that quite a few layers have been applied. Some works are very subtle and tranquil, but you can always see that paint has been used.
Up close you can clearly see how I build up my work layer by layer in watery acrylic. This gives my worlds a lot of depth and transparency.
As a viewer you can wander in the endless distances of my landscapes. You can see landscapes, ice fields, seascapes, cloudy skies. There is a clear affinity with northern romanticism in which the landscape element is dominant. It is colder than cold, mountain ranges are higher than high, seas wilder than wild. The world shows itself from its most unapproachable side.
